Zombie
What is a zombie? A zombie is an undead creature regularly encountered in horror and fantasy themed work. They are typically depicted as mindless, reanimated corpse with a hunger for human flesh, and perticularly for human brains in some depiction. In other words, a zombie is an animated corpse brought back to life by mystical means, such as witchcraft. The term is often figuratively applied to describe a hypnotized person berefit of consciousness and self-awareness, yet ambulant and able to respond to surrounding stimuli.
In west of Africa, according to the tenets of Vodou, a dead person can be revived by a bokor, or sorcerer. Zombies remain under control of the bokor since they have no will of their own. It is believed that after some time God will take back the soul back and so the zombi is a temporary spiritual entity. In the south of Africa, some communities believe that a dead person can be turned into a zombie by a small child. In Haiti aound 1937, Hurston encountered the case of a woman who appeared in a village, and a family claimed she was Felicia Felix-Mentor, a relative who had died and been buried in 1907 at the age of 29.Hurston persued rumours that the affected person wes given a powerful psychoative drug, but she was unable to locate individuals willing to offer much information.
The origin of zombies is well understood today, but this wasn't the case when they were first discovered in the early 1800s. Darwin was the first to recognize that zombie 'reproduction' in a process of descent with modification in a way analogous to that of non-undead species. Darwin's insight was that, even though zombie's don't reproduce sexually, random mutations in hereditary material can be passed along after a zombie bite. Each 'daughter zombie' then inherits the traits of their parents and pass those traits along to their victim in turn.
There are zombies attack in a few places such as China, America, and others. One of the major zombies attack is in United States when a heavy storm hit United States, made landfall at Key West. As day turned to night, heavy rains and winds over 150 miles an hour rolled over the island, destroying virtually everything standing. Amid the destructions, infected rats began roaming the island, and by the morning, the first of the zombies appeared. The islanders had no way to escape. Scores of people drowned when they chose to leap into the choppy surf than face the voracious zombies. A total of 3500 people were infected and destroyed.
There are a few film based on zombies such as Frankenstein, Night of the Living Dead, and others. In conclusion, the existance of zombie is yet to be doubt as there is not much evident proving that zombies exist in the world. However, we cannot deny the history of zombies accept that zombies exist probably centuries ago.
